What makes a Shadow?

The Year 3's enjoyed their science investigation this week trying to answer the question "What makes a shadow?"

The children learned the terms opaque, translucent and transparent then worked as a group to design an experiment that would help them understand how a showdow is made?

Using flashlights to test a variety of differnt objects, as a class we came to the conclusion that shadows are made by opaque objects, because they block all of the light and translucent objects, because they only let a little light through.
