Year 6 2021 - 2022
Happy New Year and welcome to Year 6’s class page. We hope you have all had a fantastic Christmas and are looking forward to the term ahead.
This term in topic the children will be studying the Ancient Greeks. We will be covering Greek food, Gods and Goddesses, Athens, Sparta and many more interesting aspects of Ancient Greek history. Our topic will also give the children lots of opportunities to be creative as they create their own humous recipe and design and make their own Greek mask. In Science we will be studying the unit ‘Exercise, health and the circulatory system’. This will allow the children to understand how physical activity helps with their physical and mental health in addition to how the body functions during exercise. Our RE unit for this half term is ‘Why do Christians celebrate the Eucharist?’. This unit will provide lots of opportunities for discussion and a chance to explore the Eucharist. For a full list of all the units the children will be studying in each subject this year please see our ‘Yearly Overview’ attached at the bottom of the page.
Homework will be set on a Monday and will need to be returned by the following Monday for marking and feedback. We will continue to use Microsoft Teams to set all homework. In addition to this the children will be issued a new guided reading book for this half term and will be expected to read a set amount of this weekly. PE lessons will take place on a Tuesday and Thursday. PE kits should be in on a Monday and can be taken home on Friday.
Any questions please contact us by emailing the office.
